MyJobQuote in ChatGPT: Privacy
Last updated 12 October 2026
This privacy policy explains what information we collect when you use the MyJobQuote plugin in ChatGPT, why we collect it, how long we keep it and your rights. If you also use the MyJobQuote website, our Homeowners Privacy Policy covers that.
Who We Are
The MyJobQuote plugin is provided by ICM Enterprises (UK) Limited, The Bungalow Offices, Cwittr Lane, St Asaph, LL17 0LQ, United Kingdom. We are the data controller for the information described on this page under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
What the Plugin Does
The plugin answers questions about what UK home improvement, building, repair and trade jobs cost, and whether a quote is fair, using MyJobQuote's cost guides and what MyJobQuote customers reported paying for similar completed jobs. It does not need an account and does not book or pay tradespeople.
What ChatGPT Sends Us
When ChatGPT uses MyJobQuote to answer your question, it sends us the type of job you are asking about (for example "fix a leaking tap") and, if you want a quote checked, the price you were quoted. Our tools ask ChatGPT to send only the type of job, never names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses or other personal details. Please avoid including personal information in your question.
ChatGPT does not tell us who you are and does not give us your account details. Requests reach us from OpenAI's servers, not from your device. The service does not use cookies or sessions and has no access to the MyJobQuote customer database.
What We Keep
We keep application logs for 90 days, after which they are deleted automatically. For each request they record:
- the time, the tool used and how long we took to respond
- the recognised job words only: words that appear in MyJobQuote's own cost guides and job titles. The text you typed is not stored
- any quoted price
- whether we found an answer, which MyJobQuote cost guide we used and which sources we used
- the name of the connecting client and its user agent
- the IP address of the service connecting to us. For ChatGPT this is one of OpenAI's servers, not your device's address, and we also record whether it belongs to OpenAI's published ChatGPT ranges
Where It Is Stored
Logs are stored on our server in London, UK, and deleted automatically after 90 days. To stop the service being overloaded, we also count requests per connecting IP address for one minute at a time; these counts are deleted automatically within minutes.
Why We Use It
We use this information to run the plugin, keep it secure, stop abuse and find out which jobs people ask about so we can improve our answers. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in providing a reliable and secure service. We do not use it for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not use it to identify you.
Who We Share It With
We do not share this information with anyone, apart from the company that hosts our server, which stores it on our behalf under contract. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
What We Return
Answers contain figures from MyJobQuote's cost guides and rounded, combined figures for what MyJobQuote customers reported paying for similar completed jobs, such as a typical price range and roughly how many jobs it is based on, with a few example job titles and their UK region. No individual customer's price or personal details are ever returned.
Links You Follow
Answers include links to MyJobQuote's website, for example to a cost guide or to request free quotes. If you follow them, our Homeowners Privacy Policy applies to what you do on the website. ChatGPT's own use of your conversations is covered by OpenAI's privacy policy.
Your Rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it or object to our using it. Because we do not receive your name or any other details that identify you, we may not be able to find information about you in our logs, but we will always try. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Your Choices
You choose whether ChatGPT uses the plugin, and you can disconnect or remove it at any time in ChatGPT's settings. Leave names, addresses and contact details out of your questions: the plugin never needs them.
Children
The plugin is meant for adults arranging work on their homes and is not aimed at children.
Changes to This Policy
If we change this policy we will update this page and the date at the top.
